Most of my friends here know I have a cat that I have had going on 4 years now. Recently my husband and I took a cruise. We left 2 days before the cruise so we were gone 13 days total. My son was here and Tink knows him since he has lived with us since I got Tink. His girlfriend was here also with him. Tink knows her as well. They both said when we left that Tink howled every 5 minutes I was gone. he barely ate. I had left plenty of his dry cat food. His one bag was low so it should have been gone and the next bag opened. I have a second dry catfood that I switch him off every other day and it should have been gone also. neither one was finished. I assume he ate a little of each day of canned cat food which I give him in the evenings. When we got home that evening Tink was like wired. he would not come to me for a couple hours like he did not believe it was me. When he realized it was me he suctioned himself to me for the rest of the night. he literally had a paw on my cheek all night long! the next day I had to go get groceries. When I come home before I could unlock the door you could hear this howling behind the door. While he was at home within his own boundries, I could not imagine how bad it would have been if i had dropped him off at a kennel. He is better now since we have been home for a week now. But my daughter called and I am flying out friday because she is having surgery on Monday and her husband is over in Korea and no one to help her with the kids. I am hoping tink does better this time since my husband will be home. I really hate to put him through another ordeal this soon. I left our bedroom door open when we were gone, and his favorite blanket out. I guess nothing is as good as his mommy to him LOL What do you do with your pet while you go on a trip?

Most of them go to whoever is taking care of them and DEMAND to know where the body is buried.

One cat that I had would not come near me for a few days after being on a trip. I think he knew it was me, but he wanted to let me know he was mad at me, and how dare I leave him. He wasn't alone, I had 3 other cats, and whoever fed them would stay with them for awhile. One trip, he was getting sick, so I left him at the kennel at the vets office. They told me to bring an article of my clothing to put in with him, and maybe he wouldn't miss me as much. He peed on it, I guess again to show me what he thought of me going away!

I'm going away this week for 17 days. It's the longest I'll have been gone. Last October it was 5 days. I have a friend who comes over to feed my critters morning and night and he will also be watering my garden and keeping a general eye on things. I have 2 goats, 2 dogs and 1 cat. They get along well together so they will be company for each other. I'm already worried about being away so long. I will miss them dreadfully.

That is so sweet. And I bet you could just feel all that love coming out of the paw on your cheek. The longest I've been away from Harmony since she moved in has only been overnight, so she hasn't been too upset.

Most of my cats cope fairly well if i go out of town for even a couple of weeks. I of course always have someone stop in every day to feed them and scoop their litter box, but no one really interacts with them. Most are definitely very excited and happy when I get home, but one of them is just beside herself and it is clear that my absence almost like traumatized her. There was one time she was all alone for just 1 day and when I came home, she would not leave me alone, and she didn't nap for a whole day afterwards either. She is just a very sensitive and needy cat I guess
