does cooking really makes you feel full?

i've heard some people say that some of the reasons why most chefs or great cooks aren't fat is because they feel full after cooking. maybe it was just a wild theory based on observation. but thinking about it, it may be true. hahaha.. maybe they are full of the awesome scents of their dishes. or maybe just the sight of it makes them so satisfied already that they even forgot the feeling of hunger. it is their passion. and creating every masterpiece or should i say, masterDISH, is already enough for them. they could be full of food, but i know for sure that they are full of joy.

For some weird reasons, yes. Everytime I cook, I don't feel like eating it. Not that it doesn't taste good. Lol! :)). Maybe I got full from tasting the food and making sure it's delicious before serving it. I don't really know :)

I think it's all in the mind :) You just get tired of cooking that you end up not feeling hungry at all. I really don't know. I'm just making this up. Lol! :))

yeah. me too. i always cook for my brothers, like cake. the reason that appeared in my mind when i wanted to baked a cake, i want to eat. but when the cake has finished, i feel full and only look my family eat it with smile. i'm happy when they are happy. i think maybe the caused is we already full of food's smell, and when we have to give our cooking to another we have to try it, is it delicious or not? and also when we see the others people eat it, we feel like the one who eat the food is us. i think that's all for my thought.

I have same kind of feeling about this, every time after work,i always feel hungry, but if i prepare the dinner,i feel full instead of hungry.this sounds so weird. but if my husband cooks, long waiting make me feel more hungry. maybe because i'm busy cooking the food ,all my attention are on the food ,so i donot feel hungry at all

Some friends of mine who cook say that they just don't have that much appetite after cooking. I cook occasionally. In my case I feel hungrier after cooking that I would eat more than usual :))

As for me, I don't think so. haha! Cause when I cook and smell the food, I get "hungrier". I want to eat and eat and eat but I don't get fat. Some people who know this, well, most of them, are kind of jealous because when they eat so much, they get fat, when they eat little, they still get fat and in my case, whether I eat too much or too little, nothing change. That's why I love cooking, cause in the end, I'll be the one eating them. =) I do feel full when I taste what I made. hihi..

Funny, I see the opposite. I have been watching hte FoodNetwork channel for years and have notice the exact opposite. All but Bobby Flay has gained lot of weight since they started. Rachel Ray..always up and down and on diets and so many of the others..Paula Deene, Mario..and so on. I think they gain cause they are around food so much...and nibble constantly! For me... I hardly ever eat if I am cooking...kind of like I am tired of it after cooking with it and don't want it or am just to tired to eat..anything, until later!

hahaha...woah. the exact opposite. well, what i said from my discussion is just from my own observation and theory. it's nice to be surrounded by food. the only thing that's not is your getting obese because of it. hahaha... and in you last paragraph, we are very much alike. i get tired after cooking that i sometimes eat late.

No, I don;t think that chefs get full from the aroma of their cooking or this is why many of them stay slim. One chef told me that he has to frequently taste a sauce or dish so he does not eat during the day at all but has dinner at night when he is off duty. They also use up mnay calories by rushing all of the time

Hi, I am not a chef but I understand their way and I can just imagine how they cook huge batches of food for hours on end and taking a little bite on it every now and then to test the taste would make them detest the idea of taking a full meal when they have done cooking. The smell of all those food could also take away the appetite and that is what make them feeling full. In my case, I use to prepare my own food in small amounts and, being for my own consumption, I have to eat it or go hungry.

I don't think it does, but maybe the tasting while cooking does.
