Police State here we come.....

Boston Police are patrolling the streets as we speak while prominently displaying their submachine guns. While the citizens of the US are legally prohibited from doing the same. Does that really make you/us feel safer? The disparity over the right to use force, between police and citizens, is a hallmark trait of a police state. Why should the government be allowed protection while the public is disarmed and helpless?

the government is "by the people and for the people". all government agencies, including the police force are there to serve the people. if they are patroling the streets, then they are doing their duty. it's for serving the people that people pay them for with their taxes.

Yes. It is sometimes. Protest peacefully against this if you like. I have heard rules like even just peaceful protesting is a crime in CANADA. Is it also in US ?
