For the past week I have been battling with cough. I took all the medicines given by doctor yet the cough does not go away. Whenever the throat gets itchy, I start coughing for a minute or two until my eyes are teary and my face is red. At night I cough even more when we sleep in air conditioning room. For the whole week, I am moody and angry because people spreaded the virus in the office. A colleague suggested I take cod liver oil. She had a nasty cough last year and her friend recommended this to her as well. So I went to buy a small bottle of Scott's Emulsion. It has to be the white color, original flavor. So far I have taken 3 times, my throat is less itchy now and I cough much lesser than before. I will continue until I am fully recovered.

I was battling a cough a while back and my mother-in-law (who was a nurse) suggested I rub Vick's Vabor Rub on the bottom of my feet and put my socks on. I was cured of the cough. Of course I was also taking my vitamins and drinking plenty of liquids.

Being sick, especially when you have a cold, is not fun. Then if it is something you caught from a coworker, this does not help either. And like you said anymore they tend to keep giving everyone the same type of antibiotics and help instead of offering better suggestions to where everyone becomes immune to everything. But if someone suggested something and it ends up helping, then you need to let others know about it, to help save others, including here, what you did to try and help many on here as well.

I never took cod liver oil. It sounds disgusting. I have used Buckley's cough syrup which taste horrible but it really works. I have also gargled with salt water to get rid of that itch in the throat. Once I feel a sore throat coming on I use either the salt water method or gargle with hydrogen Peroxide to kill the germs. There is another home remedy I have used. tablespoons of honey and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. You mix it up and then swallow it. It taste good but also smooth your throat from iritation. Hope you are feeling better real soon.

Hi, friend, glad to know that cod liver oil is helpful for your cough. I have another way to get rid of your cough, maybe you can have a try. My mum has a cough for many years, almost every kind of medicine doesn't work. But a remedy cured her cough recently, you just need a tube of erythromycin ointment. Touch your neck, you can feel a Low-lying place along the middle part, smear some erythromycin ointment on that place, then cover medical proof fabric on it. It's really helpful, hope it can help you.

Whenever I am down with cough, I would consume the product from SNE, that is "seabuckton". It works well with me and my son . I prefer this than the antibiotics or cough syrup from the doctor and it did work well too. One of my friend here had been coughing for months, and also tried this and she has revovered after consuming many boxes and she will look for it whenever she is down with cough as well. em]happy[/em].

Cod liver oil will not take a cough away. Rather go to your pharmacy and get a cough mixture containing diphenhydramine. This will stop your cough.
