in turkey ,when we go out sometimes police asks us our id for a public seurity and that time we need to show them our id. its a must and if we cant show ,we are suspicious to them and sometimes they bring people to the police station if they dont carry their id. i think even it looks bad ,it sometimes works, because they can catch suspicious and guilty people rarely. in another countries i dont know the rules. in your country do you have to carry your idea always? do you carry? what is the adventages or disadventages of carrying id? give me your opinions please..

i am not sure that it is actually a requirement but also here if you dot have your ID on you when asked by a police officer they will also take you down town until they determine who you are and if you have any warrants or anything. around where i live they are always looking for someone so it is best to just go ahead and carry it with you as to avoid all the hassle if they are to stop you. my husband has actually been searched in the path by the store because they mistakenly thought he was someone else they were looking for. it does help here to when they find those that have warrants out on them but they hadnt been caught yet. it doesnt bother me atlesat i know they are doing their job but my husband gets annoyed by it alot since he is the one that was being searched and they were take his pocket knife saying it was illegal but honestly is was of the leagal size for him to carry.

your exactly right. police do not know if you are lying to them or not so they have to make sure you are who you say you are before they just let you walk away. the thing is around here they only take you with them if they feel like it sometimes they just tell you to make sure you carry it around from now on... people without ID usually have something to hide and they do not want to be found or caught so i see nothing wrong with the police making sure of who you are before letting you go!

yes actually police cant understand who we are if we dont have id,and i agree them if they take us with them, they have to save the people ,and they can be suspicious if people dont have id. i agree. peace

Of course gthe main disadvantage is your ID could be stolen. You're at a restaurant and you go to pay. You open your wallet to get the money out and your ID is showing and someone behind you gets a glance and maybe memorizes your driver's license number and puts that in a computer. Here in America, the authorities can't just approach you to see if you have identification on you. At the same time, let's say you're in a car accident and it's the other person's fault. We need to have our driver's license on us to prove we are who we say we are or a police report can't be made. Plus, we can't drive without our driver license on us. So it's always a good idea to carry it on us.

Here in the Philippines, I guess, we are only wearing Id's when we are in the establishments like if students, before they can get in the premises in the school they should wear ID's first. Same with us, employees, we are not allowed to get in the building where we are working if our Id is not being pinned as a proof that we are bonafide employee there.

i am not italian and there is a law that we immigrants here should always have our identity card and permit of stay so i always have them in my bag. it's not only the police that checks these. sometimes when i show my monthly bus/train ticket, the inspectors ask for an ID to verify that ticket is really mine and not someone else's.

I agree - in the U.S adults are supposed to carry IDs but many times do not. I always carry it because I go to bars or buy smokes and that requires Ids.

In my country not like that. Nobody asks you for id card. Rarely police asks somebody for id card, if they suspect them. In our college, security person didn't allow students to go inside, if they don't have id card.
