MTRCB places 'Wowowillie' on 3-month probation

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has placed the TV5 show “Wowowillie” under probation for three months. MTRCB Chair Atty. Toto Villareal told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! that the probation period has also started. Villareal’s office also tweeted that it is subjecting the TV5 show to an SPG (Special Parental Guidance) rating “effective immediately.” This developed after MTRCB received complaints in social media and other sources about the show’s female dancers, who were wearing skimpy outfits and showed excessive flesh exposure in its April 16 episode. Villareal informed Yahoo! Philippines OMG! that “a dancer was practically exposing her large breasts for around eight minutes with several others skimpily dressed.” The Board’s Twitter account added that the show “accepts responsibility and apologizes to MTRCB for skimpy outfits & excessive flesh exposure.” source: http://goo.gl/v0dsz honestly, the show looks like a night club/cabaret will all those women wearing almost nothing. i think mtrcb should have suspended this show.

The producers should know better. It is a show that kids have access to. Why would they let their dancers wear such skimpy clothing? Would their quality of performance be affected if they were to wear more respectable clothes?

well the truth is, the dancers in wowillie don't really dance well. they are quite stiff. they are using their sexy costumes to compensate for their lack of talent.

Yikes! They should be more ashamed of themselves displaying their bodies in public bearing no talents at all! I have never been a fan of Willie's shows coz no matter how much generous he seem to be with other people, I still see him differently. Just last week, I saw him along EDSA driving his Lamborghini. Following him was 2 vans filled with body guards. There were also uniformed policemen. He may have elevated his status in life, but I could still see him as that drummer boy playing at one of the known bars back in the 80's. I am not moved with what he has achieved coz I do not see himself humble enough after all the blessings that he has received.

we have the same opinion about him. his popularity and money has hit his brain. he may be helping people with the money he gives in his show but i feel like it's more for his personal gain. come on, he gets paid for helping people. and he brags about them on tv. is that the true meaning of helping?

I am not surprised after reading it in Yahoo today. I think there are times that the show would like to challenge and go daring in their shows just to attract the audience they want in their shows. But I guess the social networking and online community is vigilant enough to take notice of this and report it with MTRCB. One thing about this is that Willie never learns from his mistakes. Way back in his ABS stint he was already slapped with this kind of suspension and still he forgets about it.

Same here. Sometimes, the clothes are so skimpy that I forgot that it is a variety show and not the other type of show. Might have been better if shows like these know how to toe the line but instead, their kind only like to attract attention of the bad kind. Well, at least, they should have known it was coming. As for Willie, I am not surpassed either.

i remember during the wowowee days when willie brought the dancers to the campaign sorties of manny villar. i think some female senatoriables are quite offended since they are feminists.

I remember that as well @iluvsabado Willie never learns his mistakes and whenever he becomes popular he forgets the lessons he got in the past that is why the issue is thrown at his show again and again. I think there will be a dramatic announcement on this issue again. Well I think sometimes this is an opportunity for them to attract audience sympathy on their show.

i was just thinking why would someone be so affected when somebody wears sexy.is it envy or they just dont wanted to see beautiful people.

i don't think it's envy. especially for me. who doesn't want to see beautiful people?

i agree that sometimes it depends on the person's way of thinking. i guess a lot of people were offended by what they saw.

Why just now, on the first place. Willie's dancers are always skimpily dressed. And the way they dances seemed like those dancers at a bar. They deserve this from MTRCB, because their viewing schedule is the time when kids watches also.

we're on the same page at this. my 4-year old nephew is a fan of his show because of the "kendeng kendeng" dance. i'm just glad that when the show officially starts, he's already asleep.

I haven't seen tv5 shows anymore since I am living in the southern part of the Philippines where we can see only other channels thru cable TV and mine has already been disconnected. I guess skimpy costumes of dAncers were already seen long ago maybe no one complained. It's only lately that somebody complained.

well according to an article related to this topic, it was the netizens who complained. and i think wowowillie went too far from those that is tolerable.

Mtrcb action on yhis show takes sk long. It has been so long that the show doing this stuff, it is like a modern cabaret house. I am a guy and i admit i like watching this show because of the girls but then sometimes it is too much just like what happened tis time that takes the show to be suspended.

I agree, all the outfits worn by the Wowowillie dancers are too skimpy, I dont think it is still appropriate for a show that is aired at noon. The probationary period is well deserved. They should learn their lesson and be reminded, always, that kids are also watching their shows.
