Better remove it to avoid overcharging, especially if you're using it for a long time. But it's also important to remember that you need to regularly use your battery to keep its life span. Once every a week would be sufficient. Never let your battery totally run out, start charging when it's about 5% - 10%

As soon as your battery has 10% energy left, charge it until full. Then you can remove the battery or use it again. Use your battery regularly. When you connect the power cord, the energy doesn't come from battery, it directly comes from your power outlet. So remove your power cord once in a while and use the battery.. I hope you get my point.

plugin in for only when it is low... and plug out when it is full charged... do not plug-in when it is full charged... remove the battery and use on electricity may harm your laptop.. becoz when power gone... all your data that is not saved just lost.... it might effect your windows and Hardware.... so in my opnion .... you should not remove the battery as i told u above...

Hi moon84, I always work on my laptop with battery in even though I use the AC plug. I don't think this would damage the battery for my old laptop that I have been using for eight year the battery still work well. It's for reading and searching latest info. I work on my another laptop also with battery in. I can still working on it continuously whenever there is blackout. It's really inconvenient without battery for I have to place in the battery and restart the laptop again. What I had typed that hadn't saved will be gone totally as the laptop shut out in a sudden That's why I would never like to take out the battery just for the unproven reason it would be more durable doing so Happy posting

Hi, Battery or no battery, your laptop will fine. It can still operate if the battery is taken out and being plugged directly to the power source. You get the chance of any unsaved data being lost when the main line shut down without warning. It can also damage the hard disk drive that way, sudden cutting off or intermittent power source or power surges and fluctuations. With the built battery, these power problems can be eliminated. You should practice deep cycling your battery by plugging it in and once fully charged, disconnect the power adapter from the main line, letting the battery be drained by turning on the laptop until it shuts down automatically from low battery charge, do this at least once a month. That way your battery can last for years of use.

For the best practice, better don't run your laptop battery all the way to empty. Since laptop nowadays use Li-ion battery and not NiMH one. For more information, refer to http://www.laptopbatteryexpress.com/Laptop-Battery-Batteries-FAQs-s/11929.htm

i think its kind of compicated ptoblem. if you use electricity and seperate the battery part is best. because if you use battery and also electric together, its harmfull to battery life. its getting weak and after few months, you cant use your laptop without electricity. because your battery usage is getting less and bad also.peace

According to my experience, it is not good to plug the battery of the laptop all the time. Since it will shorten the life of the battery. It is better to charge it when the power is low. Now my laptop battery can not even last for more than 10 minutes and this is so inconvenient.

First off, once the battery reaches 100% charge it stops charging(it would explode otherwise). The laptop just runs off of AC power after that,so it doesn't run down the battery- you want it to ideally be 100% charged when you unplug it. But,it's a good idea to use the battery every once in a while, and if you're storing the battery, drain it to around 40% capacity first to preserve its life.

What are you meaning? If you keep it plugged in 24/7 that is not good. If you have a newer computer they have a safety switch. I have heard of a lot of times where people have left their laptop plugged in and it results in sometimes the charger shorting out. The most that you should ever do is overnight. To prevent damage do not put in on your bed/counter top. Do not put it anywhere where the laptop battery is directly on the surface. What i do a lot to prevent overheating is flip mine over so the heat just goes up. Another way to prevent overheat if you do have a coollingpad/a lab pad that holds you laptop on, just place the laptop on the coolling pad. You do not have to plug it in. It will give a little space for the heat to escaped from the laptop.
