alternate for windows live movie maker

Hi guys! I just need suggestion or recommendation on what software can I use to make video presentation like windows live movie maker. The installed windows live movie maker in my laptop is now corrupted and not running anymore, I also had a hard time to uninstall, reinstall or updating it, which made me decide to just use other software. The video presentation that I am going to make is just a simple one, just like a slideshow of pictures, with a background music, and I may also put the lyrics at the bottom of the screen, just like in karaoke. Also, I am looking for software which has a lot of effects to choose from, just like in windows live movie maker. As much as possible, I am looking for a free software, so if you have experience on doing a video presentation like that, please tell me what software can you recommend or suggest.
