Sometimes, we receive emails, which are really useless and even they cause us lots of troubles. So can we know, from which place or country was sent to us? If you have knowledge about this subject. please share here. Thanks in advance.

Knowing from where it was sent isn't very helpful, really: knowing their ISP is much better. The easiest way is to use a service like SpamCop.net, which is free. You just paste in the whole email (including all the headers) and their system analyses it and can send spam reports to the sender's ISP... thus getting their account closed.

Well ,its possible ,You could get the sender's ip address from "show original" button in gmail. and you could trace the ip to get the location. But a clever sender can spoof email address or can use proxy server . so you can't rely on the ip address you get.

I believe the above has been enough said and I'd thought I'd like to add a few points for you. First, do not reply to any of these SPAM emails as it will just makes matters worse for you. Presently, there's not much you can do other than doing things manually by setting filters on these sender addresses so that any more mails from these addresses will automatically go into your SPAM folders. If it is getting quite serious then you can seek out your ISP for further advise and at the same time visit a website called abuse net(link below). Abuse net is for you to report abusive behavior, you need to report it to the system where the abuse originated. The abuse.net system helps forward messages about abusive activity on the Internet to people who can do something about it. It's not a blacklist, nor is it a spam analysis service. It just forwards message from you to system managers. So, if you are interested please check the link below. Abuse Net: http://www.abuse.net/users.phtml

Yep, it's possible - although I am not sure about why do you care about the spammers' country :p Just check the email's header, get its IP address and then track it. About how to check email's header - it should be provided by every mainstream mail - Yahoo, Gmail, or Hotmail - although the method could be different. Let me see if I could get some tutorial with pictures on the net.... .... Here it is: http://aruljohn.com/info/howtofindipaddress/ Ok, happy tracking

Thanks varier. Infact I just wanted to know this out of curiosity. I have been receiving some spams addressing me by my name. So that gave me an idea of finding the source country of the spamer. I will check the link you have sent and try to learn something. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge here. Have a nice day...!
