Lessons not learned

How many times do I have to learn the same thing? For the last year I’ve perfected my candle making so that very few mistakes are made! This is wonderful when it comes to cutting back on waste (money lost and a broken heart when a special piece goes crashing to the floor), but this is getting to be ridiculous! I know from experience that when hot gel is poured into a container with a wick in it not to pull up on the wick! So why did I, just this morning, have to learn the same thing again? I was being very responsible to the future owner of a vintage frosted jewelry bowl, complete with gold cover. I was preparing to fill it one quarter full of gel but tempering the glass first. I poured a little hot gel in the bottom and let it temper the thick glass. Then I poured gel until the container was half full to test burn it. Then I pulled on the wick to make it stand straight (oops!) It detached from the bottom! I’ve done this a total of 4 or 5 times! It’s the only mistake I repeat! I hope to goodness I am not the only person who suffers from this affliction! Please tell me you have had repeat mistakes! I’m feeling like an idiot and I’m tired of it!

Yeah i can understand your problem very well and i know u must be getting frustrated to do the same thing repeatedly but then this does not mean u will lay down your arms. u should keep trying, may be u will develop a beautiful candle in the process. u cannot expect things to happen all of a sudden. So keep trying.

I suppose it all comes down to "pick yourself up, dust yourself and try again".

I also think it is always good to try and try again.

Don't be hard on yourself. Sometimes we do make the same mistakes unintentionally. But maybe next time, we need more of the "presence of mind".

"presence of mind is what I'm looking for. Sometimes it just isn't there!

I also think that we all make the same mistakes again and again in life. I think it is human nature to make mistakes and if possible one should try to avoid making the same mistakes or trying to limit the same mistake. I hope you will be able to fix it very soon.

Thanks for your kind words! Hopefully I've learned once and for all. Luckily it was just a candle for a short test burn! I have to redo it anyway! Yeah.

Relax yourself and do not stress yourself too much. All of us do mistake. At times the more we careful, the more it fails. So, divert your attention elsewhere and come back to the task again. I believe when you are not so tension, you can do better. All the best!

Well, at least it still burns well enough for a testing candle! Hopefully I'll avoid repeating this mistake again
