They have a house in Richmond which is a posh area of West London. It is by the River Thames and it is on the London Underground. They swapped their house for a house overlooking the sea in Torquay. It is a seaside locality. They loved having a sea view and paying nothing for their accommodation. I wouldn't want to do a house swap since I wouldn't know where to put my dogs. I wouldn't like people having meat in my kitchen. You see I am a vegan. How about you? If you could do that which country or destination would you be keen to go to?

Wow, Richmond is very selecte, very grand and extremely affluent area, and you even have Kew Gardens on your doorstep. I have been to Richmond a few times, and it's definitely well to do and I loved Richmond Park, you can sometimes see the deer prancing around in the park. I have also been to Torquay, and I wasn't impressed to be honest, I had a weeks holiday there with a friend, the guest house we stayed at was rank, and dirty, Torquay itself wasn't up to much. Mind you the week previously we had spent in Newquay which is a 100 times better than Torquay. I wouldn't want a house swap because I am only 20 minutes away by train from London and I have the beautiful garden of Kent on my doorstep, and the public transport is great, as well as all the amenities.

Hello Wolfie. Thanks for explaining so very well just what Richmond is like. I adore Kew Gardens. I wish I lived nearer that glorious garden. We did manage to visit it last year in November on a rushed day out. I live in a quiet area of Weston super Mare. I used to live three miles from Canterbury. I think back fondly to the Kent and the the East Sussex coastline. It is great that you live just 20 minutes from London.

I wouldn`t mind doing house swaping and in fact, I have done it once with distant cousin several years ago in Summer. All I would ask is that the people are as clean as I am or that they leave some money for a person to clean after they are gone.

Hello Marguicha. I hope that you will do another house swap. It is interesting hear that you did one with a cousin several years ago. Yes, it would be essential for a clean up afterwards.

My ex and his cousins (near Leipzig, Germany) were talking about a swap later when we were all retired. I guess he'll have to tell me all about it...

It is very interesting that your ex and his cousins are going to do a house swap when they are retired. It will be interesting for him to visit the place near Leipzig in Germany.

I am like you in that I don't think I could do a house swap! I would be too worried abou them either breaking or using stuff of mine and wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy being away! Then I would also be worried about being in their home! I guess for some people, this is an ideal way to holiday but, it is not for me!

i saw this scheme on tv. i think it's a great way to travel without much trouble with the place to stay. my concern is don't you think it's kind of risky since you don't really know what kind of people would live in your house?
