do you have a problem with your dog's breath? well there's a simple way to make a Dog's Toothpaste. You will need : Mixing bowl 1 bouillon cube 1 tablespoon water 2 tablespoons baking soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 cup coconut oil Container with lid. How to make it : 1. Dissolve the boullion cube in the water in a mixing bowl. The boullion makes the toothpaste tasty to your pup. 2. Add the baking soda and cinnamon to the bouillon and stir. Baking soda is an abrasive that removes plaque. Cinnamon is also a gentle abrasive, and will make your dog's breath smell a whole lot friendlier! 3. Add the coconut oil to the mixing bowl and work the other ingredients into it. Continue stirring until the mixture is even. Coconut oil holds the other ingredients together, and is safe and healthy for your dog to eat. If your coconut oil melts during mixing, don't worry. It will re-solidify when it cools to room temperature. 4. Transfer your doggy toothpaste to a small resealable container for storage. Because coconut oil can be stored at room temperature, there's no need to keep it in the refrigerator. Using it on the dog : 1.Get your dog in a comfortable position in which you can also keep him from running away. Make him feel at ease by petting him and speaking in soft tones. 2.Scoop some of your homemade doggy toothpaste onto a dog toothbrush. 3.Spread the toothpaste all over your dog's teeth. Try to prevent him from licking off the toothpaste as much as possible. 4.Move the toothbrush gently over your dog's teeth in small circles, scrubbing at any areas of plaque buildup. Make sure to get the back teeth and the sides of the teeth touching the gums, where most of the nasty stuff accumulates and bad breath originates. 5.Wipe your dog's teeth clean with a clean, damp washcloth when you're done brushing. Offer your dog water so he can wash down any remaining gunk. Your pup's smile should now be sparkling and new! TIPS! The coconut oil should be solid at room temperature. If your coconut oil is liquid, put it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes and it will solidify. You may find it easier to use your finger wrapped in a clean washcloth than a toothbrush to clean your dog's teeth. You can add many other dog-friendly items to your doggy toothpaste, including parsley, a breath freshener, or clove, a parasite repellant. WARNING : Avoid letting your dog eat his toothpaste as much as possible. Eating large amounts of baking soda can cause electrolyte imbalances in your dog, and large amounts of coconut oil can cause diarrhea. If your dog seriously threatens to bite you when you're cleaning his teeth, leave dental care to the professionals. Offer him teeth-cleaning chew toys in between doggy dentist visits. I hope it helps!
