my dad right from time has always wanted his children to be in a science related field but we each end up either as accountants or bankers and it upsets him always. do u think that if we decided to go into the science field, it would make us better persons?

I am also a parent, donsesso. I believe that as a parent, we are only here to guide on whatever undertaking our children might want to take. But we cannot impose. They have their own life and they should build their future the way they want it. My son would come to me from time to time to ask for guidance and to solicit some advice but I would still leave the decision to him. Have a great day!

It's normal for parents to "push" their children to a particular field, especially when they are graduates of that field or course. But I still feel that the child has the right to choose which course to take. S/he shouldn't be forces to take a particular course by the parents otherwise, there will be no success in the chosen field. If you feel that a certain field interests you, then go or it and just explain to your father :) He'll understand that for sure :)

I think we should be happy with whatever career choice we make. It is up to the individual person what they decide to do because their the ones that have to do it. Your father is not the one who should choose what you do with your life, we all have to be happy with our choice...

Hi ! Our parents have wishes for a degree that we will earn . They wanted nothing but the best for their children but still the kids are given the full freedom to choose which career they wanted to pursue . Parents only their to guide and support. There are exemptions to this , some parents really insisted and forced children to take the degree which they wanted and believed the best for you .Some very good kids do nothing but give parents their wishes . There are also hard headed kids wherein they never follow parents but their own wishes and dreams.
