Next month, it will be the month of election in the Philippines. 12 senators, congressman, Mayor, Vice Mayor and councilors will be elected. I don't know if I will vote but I have few votes in senatorial slates. My 1st vote was in 2004 were I vote Raul Roco in presidential election. I feel good because it was my 1st time and a newbie. In 2010, I voted for Noynoy Aquino and got won. It was the 1st time that we use people's machine for electronic voting. How about you guys?

Hi, Having grown up during the martial law years, the first time I voted was during the aftermath of the EDSA revolution when Corazon C Aquino ran for office in opposition to the then incumbent President Ferdinand E Marcos in a snap election. It was a new feeling for me, election for the first time in almost twenty years, having missed the billboards and the election hoopla when I was younger. I have no faith in the election then, most of the outspoken people ranted and raved at the "widespread corruption" that has been the fare of those who lose in it. Still, it is a relief to have something of a chance to elect our leaders and to have our own style of democracy, a process and trademark of a free world.

Sadly, Im not yet a registered voter (shame!) so I haven't experienced voting yet (hopefully next elections!). But Im pretty sure that when my opportunity comes that I get the chance to cast my vote, I'd be very excited!

I hardly ever vote to be honest, I don't like any of the parties in my country, none of them seem to know what to do to get us out of this damn infernal recession, we've only just escaped getting into a triple dip recession, so I purposely don't vote. It's a waste of time. I started voting when I was 18, I am 42 this year, I think I voted about three times since.

Hopeful. But it faded as time goes by. And as long as corruption and poverty continues, my hope continues to fade each passing day.

Hello, Voting is very important no matter which country you come from. If you dont voice your opinion then there is no point in complaining ifthings go wrong. It's your vote so use it wisely and make a difference.

It make me feel worthwhile, at least i can exercise my rights to decide who should be my representative in the government, first time is always hard to forget, the experience is exciting, i am feeling proud i finally fulfill my duty as a citizen to turn in my ballot voluntarily without the need for someone hauling me to the voting booth like a baby.

I voted for the first time when I was very young and did not vote for the person I wanted most at the office. I had a gut feeling something would turn wrong so I did not did my vote to who would be our president for 3 years: Salvador Allende. Then there was the coup and we had a dictator for long and terrible years. After that, I had to vote for whoever would not pose such a threat to the military (as they saw it) because I did not want a dictator again. Now, after a long time, leftists presidents have come to office, but there is still an awful gap between the rich and the poor. So now I decided I would not vote again. Politicians suck

I am already 23 years old and I did not yet experience on how to vote in a national and worst in a local election. I don't know, even it is a must, for me, it is not that important. lol. I know some of you will take your eyebrow high on me as I am not a good citizen of the country. The reason behind that I am not yet registered is that I am always busy with something and so I always forget to go to our municipal hall.

I am a 2nd voter now. But my 1st vote in for Sangguniang Kabataan.. But for the Senatorial election, this is my first. Even though i only vote for SK last 2010, I have my bets. And we're the same, I go for NoynOy then. And he won! :) But for now, what i have on my senatorial line up is Chiz Escudero.. Hope everyone will vote fairly and not just because of their personal thoughts and motives. GOODLUCK PHILIPPINES :D

I can't really recall how I felt the first time I voted. I do remember that we went to the polling stations as a family although we each had our own candidates that we supported. I guess what might best describe how I felt was tired and relieved. Ever since I was eligible to vote, I've always been involved in the campaign of a specific senator or a local candidate. But after three presidential elections, I've sort of lain low with the campaign stuff. It's good to hear that you're actively exercising your right to vote. We need the younger generation to do this

I have voted several times and we will go to the pools again this coming 5th of May to elect our federal as well as state governments. This coming 13th general election is the most important election in the history of my country, Malaysia, because this time we do have a genuine opposition coalition of parties to rival that of the National Front who is the incumbent government that has governed for more than 50 years. This time the opposition stands a realistic chance of winning the election and thus we may see a new government on the 6th of May. When your "PEOPLE POWER" toppled the dictator in 1986, I wept happily. The assassination in the airport was an image stayed in my mind for many years. Now that democracy is alive, we all have to fend for it so that it would not be manipulated by the powers that be to rig the votes.

Hi Cobalt! It's going to be my first time to use the electronic machine this election. I didn't had the chance last time because of work shift. I'm quite anxious in using it because I might cause paper jam or something like that. Hehe! Just a little paranoia over new technology. Anyway, in terms of my vote. I have already made my mind with the politicians I would support. And I would prefer not voting anyone instead of giving the wrong vote. As some instructions say "leave it blank." Thanks for the discussion! :)
