Spring time - teenagers forced to get jobs

I can't believe once the sun comes out, nice weather. All these annoying teenagers come out of nowhere. I was at work the other day and had 10 teenagers hand in resumes. Most places arn't hiring, even myself who has years experience can;t find a job. Most places wont hire someone who has worked 2 months in their entire life, they want someone who can know the job when they walk in the door. My boss was showing me some of the resumes and I would just plain surprised if they find any type of job. Spelling mistakes, just plain useless resumes, no experience (not even vlunteer). I assume this is why I can't find a job because they are handing in their resumes as well, and the places need to sort through them.

It does, and it's sad what some of their resumes look like.

I guess I am glad I can't remember the first time I had to look for work in the summer

Be glad, even anytime of the year, it's hard in this economy and business are just throwing people out the doors.

Might be right. But most businesses know they can get those kids for cheap wages. its that way here.

You are absolutely right, and they will do anything because they are clueless to the real world and how things run.

I agree with Marìa, although it`s a pity that they are not aware that they have to hand out clean resumes with clean hands. But we all were teeens looking for our first job. You, yourself, Ricki, want your young brother to get a job.

School is going to be out soon here and all these teenagers are going to have the summer to earn some money. There are no teenagers where I work right now, but my last job was full of them. They wanted full time hours during the summer and then wanted 1 or 2 days a week during the school year.

My last job at the coffee shop use to be like that, when I went to college I was working full time nights, while in school. Most get everything handed to them, so they don't have to work. My boss hates that, and wants someone to run a store for him. So he doesn't want teenagers around, who wont work (he leaves you every shift by yourself).

hi ricki you will get a job once they get tired of some of the worthless resumes by the teens so your experience will count for you. Do not fret it as you will get a great job.em]thumbup[/em[]

It is hard to find a job for a teenager, but you know even worse when they don't put forth enough effort either. If I was in the position to hire, I'd want to talk to them as soon as they handed in their resume. Get a feel for their experience and how comfortable they are interacting with just me. Then from there ask questions off of their application and get a feel for it. Some do try, but others don't care. Luckily I work with teenagers who DO care.

I found this when I worked at the coffee shop. They did not want to be there, and my boss tries that as well, when he first hires someone. He said he didn't do this for me, as I shopped at the store for many years, and he knew me that way. Also, by my resume seeing as I worked at places for many years, and I knew a girl who worked there. But when they come in my boss always asks us, and I said well just by how they walk and talk.
