Looks like my poor puppy will be making his first vet visit already!

And let me tell you I'm none to happy about this! So the dog has a bit of a cough.. and this morning he was sneezing and had boogers coming out of his nose. This very well could be kennel cough.. or hopefully just a slight cold that will pass. Either way, I need to bring him to a vet to find out and be sure. Well I called the shelter we got him from on Friday to see if he'd been treated for kennel cough. They said no, because he wasn't showing symptoms. I told them what he was doing, they said I could bring him in.. but I'd have to pay the going rate for an office visit and for meds if he needs them. I'm just slightly ticked they won't see him free of charge considering he most likely got sick because of them in the first place! If he has kennel cough, that is passed dog to dog.. he hasn't been around any dogs since being here.. he caught it there! Since they won't see him for something they probably caused, and they obviously didn't check him out that well to begin with.. I think I'll take him to my regular vet. At least then I'll have peace of mind that he was checked out properly. I really hope it's nothing major! But I am getting very worried about the poor puppy.. he's been sleeping way too much today and now that I've got the idea in my head that he could be sick it's really scaring me! Please pray everything works out for the best.. Has your dog ever been sick with a cough or cold?

I had the vet here today, but for the goats not the dogs. Had to hold each one down whilst he took blood. Great fun lol

I have never seen a dog with a cough or a cold before. I really hope that it is not kennel cough. I would be pissed at the shelter as well. That dog is still under a 'warranty' of sorts and the least they could do was look at him.

They really ought to be treating all dogs for it. I'm very surprised that they don't. By the time they're showing symptoms, it's too late to prevent it. Fortunately, it's treatable. Hope your puppy's better soon.

Yes! Another reason why I am a bit ticked at them.. I mean, what if I had other dogs at home? Then they'd all have it! They really should have treated him. Or maybe it's just a typical cold. I'm hoping it's nothing major!
