Labor day.. full of rallies

Philippines
April 29, 2013 7:01pm CST
Tomorrow is Labor day here in our country. During this day, it is already expected that there are lots of rallies especially in the metro initiated by labor unions. During this day, heavy traffic is really expected in places near government offices. Speaking of rallies, aside from expressing what they want in the government, getting hurt and even some died because of the stand-offs, what do you think are the good benefits that they will get from the said activity? Have you already tried joining such rallies?

I never did join any rally. I consider this thing as a waste of time. But since we have the right to express what feelings we night have inside, then I won't disagree with them. This is just my personal opinion. For me, I would try to figure out my next move whenever I am in trouble rather than to spent my time with this kind of activity. If my present job does not satisfy me, then I will find another job. No need to complain, no need to ask for a raise and no need to say things against the management. Most usually, people will group together during this event in order to express themselves and to ask for something from the president. Have a great day!

Hi aries. You have a positive views of things and situations and I believe too that if one's salary is not enough then seek ways to augment it.

I agree with aries. if you are not happy with your job because of too low compensation, maybe you should leave and find another. However, these days, it is really hard to find job. Like namiya says, you can ask for it in a nice way without those violent protests in front of your company.

I haven't tried to take part in this kind of rally. As the people can't get any benefits from the rallies directly, we should try some other peaceful and effective methods to get what we want.

I think something good should be done on this day like feeding food to poor, etc that are useful for others.

Yes, cutemandy, we can used to have want we want in a nice way. I think these ralliest are just provoked by some labor unions. Ajithlal, like others said, instead of having protest and rallies, why not use to celebrate the said day as a special day.

I haven't tried participating in any rallies here in our country. i guess the advantage of this kind of activities is that the people were able to express what's really on their mind and heart but aside from this advantage i can't think of any that would make this activities beneficial. If the government were able to follow what the people's advocate i think that would be the time that i can say that it's worth fighting for. :)

That is one way of solving problems thru a diplomatic way. I think those who attended rallies are those provoked by some labor unions in the company.

A rally is one way where people express their freedom of expression. There are different pros and cons of joining a rally. I only join a rally once, not because I want to, but it is one of our requirement in one of our subjects in college. I have no choice but to join. And that very moment I got some experiences which I never forget.

I think I am too traditional to join rallies. I never like making noise so I f determinately will be a sore person in that scene. the most they can do is garner attention to their issues. that how it works in our society but they also have to respect other people's view.

I guess labor day is global ! I loved it when people are in rallies , it just tells us that people nowadays are aware and taking part in the community. This is good do government will be able to hear the grievances of the citizenry , and government will be able to realize that layman are vigilant and know how to fight for their rights. Rallies are one way of expressing democracy !

I think it is not good to have lots of rallies in road. I think most probably it is not good to make the roads full with traffic. I think it dependent on people to people and what they want to do.
