Hey there!! myloters....so the thing is that i just joined today and the first thing i tried to search was discussions about this subject but..oh well I did not find any (is it against the rule or something?) haha....so as you may/may not know shounen-ai/yaoi anime/manga are about relationships between both male characters... I can't say i'm a hardcore fan of this but i did watched a few,and i don't know but i kind of like it and it kinda irked me at first but then my other anime fan friend also watched them and now she got hooked....so how about you, have you watched one? If not are you willing to, or does it disgust you or something....:D BE NICE!!!

I watched some clips of it out of curiosity. I ask myself as I watch "what could have made people want to see things like this?" But I still have not truly found the answer to that question. I also saw some yaoi mangas, most by accident because I often fail to pay attention to the genre, because I find their manga title sounded cool or interesting lol I can find some implied male and male relationships as a joke to make the show more funny and interesting but when it's hard core love story between two males and only about that... I won't watch it.

true!!! it's a bit icky if all they talk/do is this and that...that's why i prefer the shounen ai ones cause it's lighter than yaoi and you cannot even notice it.....hmmm i think i liked it cause all those i've watched and read have great characters and story lines, and also there are no boundaries, like the characters can share a room, goof around together and things like that cause they are both "BOYS"...and also i think it's because i'm starting to hate stereotyped girls you can see on most shoujo anime and manga haha, that's why i wanted to try something that will not make me lose interest....

Till now I still have not found a good story or character in a yaoi anime/manga that would make me a fan of it. How about Kyou kara mao? I've seen it but I wasn't aware that it was shounen-ai until I saw two guys being engaged in that series. It was weird and I did understand it at all. I wasn't paying attention to the anime because I was making a school project while watching it. Hmm, maybe the fact that their love is forbidden and it's the same concept us 'so close yet so far' it thrills the audience. I don't like most leading girl characters in typical shoujo manga. But I like Kyoko from skip beat a lot!! Also kyoko hori from horimiya. Horimiya is surprisingly not shoujo but shounen.

@Aja103654 yup yup i've seen kyou kara maou too....but at that time i didn't even know that there is a genre for that..haha....and yes i agree with kyoko from skip beat its one of my favorite shoujo anime i also read the manga it's better than the anime, except with the story of Ren, from that it gets a bit dark....i loved the comedy when Shou's there so...

Yaoi or shounen ai is more or less is what I read/watch these days. I don't really care much about other manga or other anime because most anime almost always have to do with either useless girl or fanservice for guys. So yeah avoided a lot of anime and manga these days.

I read yaoi for the xxx scenes though.. Can't be help, I wanted something to "cure" my trauma for accidentally seeing disturbing ecchi scenes or a sexist scenes. I don't read shoujo anymore because a lot of shoujo focus on emotions. For someone who can't tolerate anymore pages and pages of angst and drama, shoujo is not for me anymore.
