How to earn from Blogging??

Hello to all my Mylot friends, I have been away from My lot from quite long time, seems the site has changed a lot, not showing my previous earnings also :( . But still a good place to discuss things. I was trying to figure out of more passive ways of earning good amount along with my job, I have seen that people earn through Blogging!.. Well I would love to start doing it, but need little advise of how to start and how to take it further. Please help me with your valuable suggestions. :)
