What r u do when u understand ur baby tells lie?

Our children are aware we come down extremely hard on them for lying. We have always told them that we can handle anything they ever have to say or tell us but PLEASE don't lie to us...Lying in our house always meant 2 punishments..one for whatever they were guilty of in the first place and trying to hide...and a second, more severe one for the lying
