Problem downloading (& then playing) videos from youtube

I use IDM to download videos from Youtube, & then play them with VLC. But since last few weeks, I found that most videos are being downloaded in two separate formats- MP4 & MP4A. VLC is unable to play videos thus downloaded. Can anyone help me so that I can again download & play them properly ?
