if i may ask....what is the Tanabata Festival? I saw a post yesterday about "tomorrow being valentines day" .....so it the Tanabata Festival similar to what we celebrate here as valentines day?

Tanabata is a Japanese star festival celebrated to commemorate the meeting of Hikoboshi and Orihime. According to legend, they're only allowed to meet once every year on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunisolar calendar. The date varies by region but always falls sometime during July or August.
The Japanese festival was inspired by the Chinese Qixi Festival, which is sometimes called the Chinese Valentine's Day.
