Anyone use Elance? I heard that many people seem to have issues with Elance. So I'm not sure if it's a good place to get jobs because Elance seem to charge people randomly.

Its been awhile since I was on Elance, but the charges did not seem random at the time. There were some projects you had to bid for; as in your bid had to be the lowest to receive the project. And there were some you could not bid on if you did not have an elevated membership. They did however offer a variety of projects for almost anyone looking to work. From writing projects to website building, javascript they offer a really nice selection. Take a look around and see what you can apply for within your membership and how much it yields for you. Don't give up. You may lack experience in bidding at first, but you will soon get the hang of it. Let me know how it works out for you, I need more resources for my blog. This is just the link to my resource page and you can see what I need. If you like Elance I will add it and give credit where its due.
Of all the things you are going to need, it will be these and other resources. Many times people fail for want of the right information to help them access those things they need. Some of these you...

I don't think you have to bid the lowest to get the job if you can prove to the client that you have the skills. Anyway if you bid too low, it wouldn't be worth the effort. I was currently using another bidding site and I bid the maximum amount that the client offers instead of undercutting everyone and I get the job instead after proving my skill to the client. But I was hesitant to use Elance because there are people who said Elance will suspend accounts (sometimes with money in it) that doesn't win enough work. This worries me because I'm just a casual user of those bidding sites just to make some side money. There are other reasons other than that as well.

@TrinityDownpour I have limited experience in those types of sites myself. While I tend to agree that your skillset should be more impressive than your bid to win a job; I know that that is how "some" clients get the initial people needed to begin work on projects. After all why spend your whole budget on small pieces of a project when a beginner can give a relatively good outline? I am curious though as to why the accounts were suspended. What reason was given to them and if the money was returned. But by the sound of things, this may not be what I want for my blog. I want to provide the resources needed for people to actually use, not resources that are going to scam them. If you don't mind my asking what other site were you using? And did you like it? @Onyxe121 I used People Per Hour. If you want my honest opinion about it then I say that they have the stupidest payment system ever. They didn't even explain clearly on how the freelancers get paid. So when I sent the wrong invoice and the client accepts it because he's new to the site as well and the money remaining amount that I didn't invoice get stuck in escrow. I have to get the client to pay the right amount that I invoice again. (Also for each invoice, they take a fee from the amount) Please note that it's difficult to get jobs there as well even if you're good. The clients will go for the cheapest and the amount is always less than what's reasonable. Of course most of the time, the client just let the job sits there and never award it to anyone. (Of course, if the job is not awarded the bid is refunded to you) They also have what they called an Hourlie. Which is just like Fiverr have you heard of it? (Fiverr is no longer profitable by the way because they revamp the site but you still can make some measly sum of pocket money) The Hourlie service thing is useless unless you purchase their feature (which is useless also) But if it weren't for that site, I wouldn't make a rather okay amount of money. (It's not much but it's still better paid compared to using Fiverr)
