Basic human rights

Got into a discussion with a "personal responsibility" type Republican a few weeks ago. I had made the comment that I believed water, food, shelter, jobs, education and health care were basic human rights. She said that was nonsense.
Got into the same discussion in the comments section of an opinion article. The person asked for proof, and I stated that this was a belief, not a statement of fact. He replied that I should have said that. Apparently, I am required to either state 1) "this is a belief" or 2) "I can prove this" when I post something. lol
At any rate, this got me googling around for what rights organizations felt were basic human rights, and I found one that the United Nations had posted. And what do you know? All of the rights I had listed, and more, such as "right to freedom from oppression", "freedom of expression", were there.
What do you consider to be basic human rights?

SHE SPEAKS WOW
just joking, but when you do it is on a serious thing like human rights. Like you said, freedom of expression but this in reality does varies from country to country does it not and does have different definitions of what freedom of speech (ok expression) really means?
I really laugh when people command someone else to proof it like they are the teacher masters of the classroom on the internet specially when a sentence begins with, "I have a belief or I have a dream" Tell him to ask nice!
I would say basic human rights say all humans are created as equals and should treated as such. Basic needs have to be met so that anyone can pursue happiness and live a reasonable life. Is that a human right by a UN standard and if it is, how is it implemented? I would say it is a right by God's standard.
