Television (& other media---mostly pop-music) has hypnotized this society in several ways. The one that hit me hardest (and--shame to say--had me convinced for a little while) is the shift of in+ercourse from 'something a man & woman do only after marriage' to 'something a man & woman -must- be planning to do if they're alone together in the same room' I was awakened to this when I was watching "GUY COURT" (where men take each other to argue over violations of "GUY CODE," the title-subject of an MTV2-show in which "experienced" men break-down the 'proper' ways men should behave). The case brought to COURT was a man's complaint that--on a particular 'night out'--the defendant's frequent flatulence cost the prosecution a lovely lady's (BEEP), and the prosecuting attorney argued that "Getting (BEEP) is what GUY CODE's all about!" I had to turn it off right there (holding the attorney-, the judge-, all of MTV2- & all of television-in contempt)! What GUY CODE is 'all about' is Upholding the Gentlemanly Standard for Our Sons to Emulate (& -for Our Daughters to Admire & Encourage in Our Sons ) But why do people think in+ercourse is EVEN POSSIBLE outside marriage? TV gets too close to reality, that's why! Heck, I'm pretty-sure that--decades ago--a man & a woman could sleep in the same bed without anyone suspecting that they were doing anything but sleeping AND WITHOUT EVEN THINKING OF DOING ANYTHING ELSE! Nowadays though, that's something that's only true if you already ARE married! (Husband & wife in bed together? nothing but sleeping going on there!) (My grandmother Granny Ruby & my grandfather Gran`pa Bosco slept in SEPARATE beds---and stayed married til they died; whereas my mom & dad (and most OTHER couples who got divorced) slept in the same bed ... you pick up the same pattern I'm sensing there?) But I digress ... I'm noticing OTHER problems arising from television/music: homosexuality---once regarded as 'a perversion,' now as freely-accepted as a 'religion' (I am the proof AGAINST DNA-arrangement's power over life-choice---genetically, I'm a gay, left-handed dead man; Really though I'm alive, right-handed, and in love with a woman!) democracy---once only 'the method by which we chose our Re-Public (the citizens we agreed most-nearly reflected the population's ideals),' now thought to be 'the system in which the will of the majority becomes law.' These- & other misunderstandings are leaked into the society by 'fictional reality' & left there to gestate into thriving cancers that rip society apart as the people swallowed by them delve deeper-&-deeper into self-centered pleasures---blind to the destruction they are causing to their surroundings. How do you suggest we fight this destructive blindness?

It's ridiculous! I don't think it is bad because it depends on us how we are taking the things. So it's completely our fault if you are thinking like this!

I disagree. How many things do we think are "normal" because all the television-shows 'SAY' IT IS? (I'm talking about "in America"---where most of our 'socializing' outside of work is "just happening to watch the same TV-show.)
