Hidradenitis suppurativa Hidradenitis suppurativa is a contagious skin inflammation disease or you can also call it worse condition of acne. It’s a disease in which lumps are formed under the skin; the size could differ from tiny to large one. This disease affects those areas of the body where the skin is rubbed together for e.g. buttocks, inner thighs, armpits and groin. This disease is also known as Acne Inversa, because this acne is formed under the skin so it’s inverse formation of acne. The lumps formed are painful and when they break there is discharge along with a very foul smell. To prevent this contagious disease from spreading it is necessary to get it diagnosed early and take the treatment before the condition gets worse. This disease can spread from one area to another forming tunnel of lumps. The diagnosis of this disease is usually based on signs and symptoms that an individual should be aware of. Few symptoms are listed here: Open Comedo or Blackhead: These are clogged pores in the skin. Skin debris is combined with oil which blocks the pores. lesions or bumps : The bumps are formed around the area having hair follicle. These are mostly described as swollen area under the skin. Tiny lumps : These lumps are hard in nature, painful and endure for years, becomes inflamed and breaks out leading to flow of pus. Leaking sores: when these lumps get swollen to higher extent they break and foul smelling discharge leaks making the condition more severe and worse. The cause of this disease is still unknown but in our opinion this may be caused due to germs on the skin and these germs gets trapped in the blockage of pores. This leads to infection and inflammation of acne. This disease is more found in women as compared to men because this is caused mostly due to hormonal changes like monthly of cycle of women. This disease is common in white skinned and rare to Asian people. General advices that should be followed if a person is suffering from this chronic Hidradenitis suppurativa: A person should wear loose fitting clothes of cotton fabric. The affected areas should not be shaved like armpits. The affected areas should not be exposed to heat resulting sweat. Using a hot flannel a person should try to collect the pus at a point so that the discharge takes place because hard tense abscess is more painful than discharging one. At last I would conclude that prevention is better than cure so it’s very important to take the preventive measure. To be preventive it is necessary to be aware of this contagious Hidradenitis suppurativa.
