What happens when we die

When we die as a Christian, do you go strait to heaven or is there a waiting place till the first reserection?

Neither. When you die, you die. Even if there was some sort of afterlife, since you aren't able to remember anything before you were alive, there's a good chance you won't notice anything after you die.
