why people prefer only cotton wear in summer season?

most of the people prefer cotton wear sarees,salwars and kurthis in summer season.can u tell me your opinion on this?

According to me, its makes feeling light and comfort in hot and sweaty season. It always better to adapt cotton wears in summers.
