Over 20% of type 1 diabetes cases diagnosed in the over 40s

According to National Diabetes Audit shows that of the 8,952 people who were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2011-2012, more than a fifth (2,035) were aged 40 and over when they learned of their condition and of those, more than 500 were aged over 69.
