Skiing has become a very popular sport around the country and is growing every day. People who live in a climate that produces snow every winter figure they might as well enjoy it, as they have to deal with it every day. However, even people who live in warmer climates such as California, Florida, or Arizona, pack up and go on a skiing holiday every year. The reason why so many people enjoy skiing is because it is in the great outdoors. There is something magical and beautiful about snow-covered mountains. You can breathe in the fresh air, and have scenic surroundings all around you. There is not that much effort placed in skiing as lifts take you up the mountain and gravity takes care of the rest. Once you have learned how to control your skis you can enjoy this sport to the fullest. The other aspect of skiing that people enjoy is the speed. It is a real adrenaline rush when you go tearing down a slope at a good clip. The presence of moguls also adds a challenge that most skiers embrace. There are always slopes to test your skills. Once you have mastered one, you can go to a more difficult slope and take on a new challenge. The other nice thing about skiing is this is an activity that you can do by yourself. It is not like tennis, or basketball where you have to have more than one participant. You can go to a slope by yourself and have a very pleasant day on the slopes. Skiing is very good exercise as it does work a lot of the muscles that you have. However, it is not a tiring sport such as running, or other forms of vigorous exercise. This is an activity that you can do for hours at a time without feeling exhausted or tired. The main appeal for skiing is probably that it is outside. People generally do like to do activities that are outside. Being in the mountains and going down a slope at speed is an added appeal. It gets you away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and brings about a certain aspect of peace.
