What is Conflict Management?

Good conflict management is vital and necessary whenever there is more than one person present. You know how the saying goes, whenever there are two or more people gathered there is always going to be conflict. Each person is different with their own personality. We also know that not everyone gets along with everybody. Since each person has their own personality as well as their own likes and dislikes conflict can arise. It is important in any business to have some sort of conflict management in place. It does not matter if you have a small business or a business that employs thousands of people. Conflict management is necessary in any type of business. In order to have a good conflict management policy in place it is important to have a chain of command in place. If everyone that had a problem went to the owner of the business, then the owner would not be able to get anything done. Chain of command is a really good way to deal with any conflict management in any work place. The way the chain of command works is a very simple concept. If an employee has a problem with another employee, then that employee would go to his or her next in command, which is most likely the supervisor. If the conflict is not handled the way that employee thinks it should have been handled then that employee can go to the next link in the chain which is the supervisor of the supervisor. The employee can continue to go up the chain of command until he or she feels that the conflict has been resolved to his or her satisfaction. Most conflicts that arise, however, can be handled by the immediate supervisor and usually a solution is found. This gives the rest of the hierarchy time to do what they need to do, and not be involved in the resolution process, unless it is absolutely necessary. This system of conflict management has worked very well for a lot of government agencies as well. This is probably the best way for any business to handle any type of conflict management in any business -
