Is it okay to pack Coffee mugs randomly in a wrapper as a gift or should I use void fill method?

I am giving these mugs as a gift to one of my college friend on his birthday. He is a Coffee-lover. But am a lil bit confused right now. Cause he lives like 50 miles away and I need to courier him, hence worried about any damage during transportation. Anyone has any suggestions?
