To enjoy good oral health, what you eat and how often you eat is an important consideration. The best foods and drinks for your teeth include cheese, milk, meat, chicken, and nuts. These foods help protect the tooth enamel by providing it with essential calcium and phosphorous that is required for re-mineralizing the teeth. Re-mineralizing is a natural process by which minerals that are being removed by acids are re-deposited in tooth.
To keep your teeth healthy, you must also include fresh, green vegetables and fruits in your diet. Vegetables and fruits not only provide you with the essential vitamins and minerals, but they also help dilute the effect of sugar in the mouth. Fruits like apples and pears and citrus vegetables like lemon and tomatoes stimulate the flow of saliva in the mouth and help protect teeth against decay by washing away food particles and acid from the surface of the teeth.
Drink plenty of water. Avoid sugary drinks and sports juices as they contain high amount of sugar which can stick to your teeth, providing the perfect environment for the bacteria to breed inside your mouth. Cola and carbonated drinks should also be avoided to keep teeth healthy and bacteria-free.
Eat healthy, drink healthy. Enjoy beautiful, healthy teeth.
