A very good morning to John Brown,our respected chief guest,honourable dignatories, principal sir,teachers and my dear friends. A knife is an indispensable tool for a kitchen. Yet there have been instances when the kitchen knife has proved to be extremely dangerous. It has caused accidents and on certain occasions been misused to harm,injure or kill someone. In fact such examples are countless and yet nowhere in the world have people stopped using them or discarded it altogether. The internet is such a tool. Like a kitchen knife in today's world it has become indispensable and has also been misused. Thanks to the progress in field of IT the use of internet has become so common that we find cyber cafés jostling for space with tea shops in every nook and corner of the city. Accessing an Internet is just like accessing a vast ocean of knowledge through a click of a button. It is the biggest achievement of the innovative spirit of mankind. Internet has greatly benefited people in general. Today in order to collect relevant data, information, quotations or records a student does not need to eun from pillar to post. He has just got to walk to the nearest internet connected computer and with a click of a button he can gleam ayat all required information on the subject choose whatever he requires and reject the rest. The internet as a siurce of knowledge is more richer and abundant, more authentic and more comprehensive than any other source. At the same time it is not only affordable and convenient but also time saving. In a few minutes one can get much more than he could have got by borrowing through a multitude of books in a week or a month. To say that internet is merely some source of information would be like touching the totip of ice berg. It is one of the greatest labour saving devices . Internet has made communication fast and easy, one can book tickets , pay bills , trade in shares keep track of events around the world , check weather , locate a place anywhere around the world, the list is endless. You name it and internet does it. However lime the kitchen knife the internet can prive to be dangerous as well. We hear of cyber crimacrimes , frauds perpetrated through internet. There are spine chilling stories of psychopaths stalking victims through social networking sites. There are references to cheating blackmailing deceltions and conning resulting from Internet. However to stop using the net for the fear of these would be like cutting off one's nose to spit one's face. If one is sufficiently alert and vigilant and uses the Internet carefully one can achieve success beyond one's wildest imagination. It is just necessary to remember fire burns. But without fire we would still have been cavemen surviving on raw meat and vegetables.
