Social Discomfort: Introvert

Hey, new user in here. I would like to write posts about certain issues/topics that I surely know all of us can relate to. I'm not sure if how many of you in here are what we called, 'Introverts' but I could definitely identified myself as one. So, my usual everyday routine is home, work & church. I'm a choir member so apart of staying home, I also like to hang out with my churchmates. I'm a socially awkward person, I don't stay in the crowd, I prefer small talks with people that I like to be with. I'm not sure in making friends since having few friends is just really okay with me. However, in my working field it's hard not to deal with other faces, you would have to acquire courage to speak and interacts with people at work because technically, it's a part of your professional world. In my existence, I'm struggling way back to my younger years, I'm having a hard time to cope up and and reload social energy because I feel like it's not something that I could live with. Introverts can live in solitude and really don't care about the people around. They value those who matters most, those who could understand their world, those who could share the same perspective as what they have. We mainly focus on inward emotions, and it makes us feel alive and comfortable. I am certain that I am an introvert type, and I'm not ashame of it. I think it should be something that we should be proud of because we have our own excellency in terms of the usage of our personal interests. We should choose what really makes us happy and not to be stress out with people that talks behind our back because in the first place, they don't personal know who we are, that's the thing that they can never get from us,--our uniqueness, our identities, our voices. Famous introverts are known as writers, painters, etc. I think what I just really wanted to express is be yourself, be happy of who you are. Sometimes we are going through some existential crisis but at the end of the day, you know who you are. That should be something we have to remember in our lifetime. Emotional aspects is what makes us feel rewarding.

i thought the introverts just want more time to stay at the quite place with themselves. No trouble. No quarrel.

I am also an introvert and yes many people consider us a shy and arrogant person which we are not. Its quite hard for us to connect with people and interact with them and maintain a long lasting relationship with everyone. Thanks

Welcome to mylot. Thanks a lot for sharing about yourself. In my view most of us or say majority of us fall into the category of 'introverts', due to various reasons. There is nothing wrong to be an introvert. There is a less percentage of people in this world, who could claim to be 'extroverts'. Also, there are many among us who have qualities of both introverts and extroverts. It is our attitude towards others and life in general, which leads us to success rather than being an introvert or extrovert.
