Well, Hey Now!!! Okay, today started off real early for me. I woke up somewhere around 4:00 in the morning. I stayed awake knowing that in a few hours I would have to drive to pick up my kids. So, I settled in the kitchen and had my usual two cups of coffee. Yes, and a few cigarettes. That is my routine. Well, it wasn’t too hot in the kitchen that early in the morning. But about a half hour later I logged into my computer. The first thing I did is what I do every morning. I check my email. Then I checked out another writing site I use. I will not name names. I think I checked in here also. Anyway, before I knew I had to get ready to leave. It was just about 7:15 this morning when I got my keys to leave the house. I got in the car and got some gas. I always fuel up before I go. The ride is, for me anyway, about an hour and a half. I have all the traffic on my side of this half way trip. Well, I got my gas, headed toward the bridge. I was surprised to see that the Staten Island Expressway was pretty clear. I thought I would have a good day for light traffic. Well, that didn’t last too long. I got to Jersey and headed for the turnpike. Well, wouldn’t you know it, always my luck. There were signs stating that there was an accident up ahead. Where, I had no idea. It was slow going all the way to my exit. Finally I get to my exit and it seemed to move once again. But, there was another tie up and then it loosened. But it kept on slowing down to a crawl. I got to my destination about ten minutes late. I figured, that’s not too bad. I got the kids and thought I was going to be sitting in traffic all the way back to New York. But, that didn’t happen. Only a little screwed up traffic on the return part of the Staten Island Expressway. Oh well, I can deal with that, I do it all the time. Finally we got back to the house and there, right there, was a parking space right in front of the house. Now that was a nice surprise. You see, none of the houses in my area have garages. We park in the street. So that was awesome. I had breakfast when I got back home, both my kids decided to go for a nap. I didn’t blame them. That ride always take a lot out of us. It knocked me out also. I cooled off in the air condition for a while and then I myself fell asleep. I got up and came online. And here I am. That is why I wrote this post. That was my day today so far. Copyright © 2015 Steven Cetta All Rights Reserved Check for all my Journals here: #inertia4journal Image Credit: CoolText.com Tags: #inertia4 #journal #inertia4journal

Sounds like you got lucky with the parking. The driving must have been a nightmare. No wonder you took a nap in the cool air conditioning. I think it would have knocked me out too.

@inertia4 LOL I travel north every summer with my kids so I can understand that. I use to be able to do it in one day. Now it takes two.

@mommaj Imagine driving every other weekend dealing with traffic on the highway and what should be an hour ride turns into anywhere from 2 to 4 hours, one way. It gets on your nerves.

That is the one thing I am beginning to not like anymore, the ride. I am getting to the point that if I don't have to drive anymore I would be fine with that.

Wow, I don't think I could handle driving that distance so much, I got tired driving 45 minutes to class 3 times a week last semester and this semester I am going 4 times a week. Good think I have plenty of peppermint oil, it helps keep me alert.

I dont do it everyday. It is every other weekend. But it does take a toll. I used to work in Jersey and that I did every day. Not good. But the kids are getting older and one day they will be legal. LOL. So they will be able to come and go as they please.

@inertia4 Oh even to drive that distance once a month would be too much for me. I guess I am not a traveler, like my neighbor who when her kids were in college she would travel 3 hours SE to visit one daughter and then come home for a night only to travel across country to visit the other one. It is enough to make my head spin...

@Carmelanirel2 I hear you on that. I am no trailer either. I like things to be kept simple. I could live in one area for the rest of my life. But, like I said, one day I will not have to take that drive.

Those rides can quickly turn into a bottle neck and you have to start early to get through them.

Tell me about it. I like driving, as long as I am moving. But sitting in traffic like that makes me nervous. And anxious. It is no good for me. I suffer already with anxiety and stress and depression. That makes it all worse.

Normal, no. I always dread that ride. But it is worth it. I get to see my kids and they love coming into NYC to be with me. So, it all works out.
