What a day

Last day at the old job, so it was sad. First thing I saw was on Facebook, my cousin's birthday, so I sent him a birthday wish, then went to work. Got my last breakfast burrito from the cafe. A bit later, I was printing a copy of my goals for one of the managers, so that he could get an idea what to put for goals for one of his people. While I was waiting for the printer, I got a text. My Aunt Terri had passed away about an hour prior. So back on Facebook, sad stuff being posted. was already sad about not being invited to my niece's wedding this weekend, and leaving all my friends at work. And then one of my projects that I was transitioning had a really annoying setback. Later I got a call from the car dealer that my car wouldn't be ready today. They've already had it a week. Fortunately, they told me I could keep my loaner car until Monday, as I want to go out of town tomorrow. Then I found out my niece, who is out of jail and on probation, after coming home, went straight to live with the boyfriend she keeps fighting with, who encourages her to drink, and who got her in all the trouble that got her arrested in the first place. Then the solar guy told my I'd have to cut my big oak tree down in order to get enough light on the roof. Enough already... I did get a lot of nice goodbyes though. My cubicle got decorated, and there was a potluck, and I got a gift card and lots of hugs, and even the VP thanked me and my boss told me I was welcome back. So it wasn't all bad.

Sometimes it just does not rain but pour. I admire the way you have taken all these things in your stride.

It's my nature, I guess.

Sorry to hear about the family stuff, ugh - especially about your aunt passing. That's all a lot to soak in in one day. But oh, it sounds like you had a sweet and special send off on your last day of work - I'm sure a lot of people will miss you. When do you start the new job?

Tomorrow. And I made up for the bad day by shopping for some new work clothes.

Good luck on the new job! We all get equal servings of the good and the bad although most of the time, it seems that we get all the bad and none of the good stuff. What I always keep in mind, I get blessings (the good) and lesson (the bad) in life.

The last day at work has it moments. I remember mine. But it wasn't a real warm loving day for me. It was one of sadness and hope. But, it was what it was. Moving on is a good thing. But having all those setbacks has to be quite annoying, especially at a time like your last day of work. It should be stress free. But life is not fair.
