There are a lot of variables and each case is unique. More often than not, with an account that just shows up and starts dropping spam everywhere, their intentions are clear. Those are usually the accounts that are banned immediately. With the regular members, who are here for the social activity, it will depend on the severity and nature of the offense and whether or not it is a chronic problem or a one time slip up. A warning may be issued at first. subsequent offenses may warrant a suspension or even a permanent ban. But you would have to work fairly hard to be banned.

"But you would have to work fairly hard to be banned" Is that a challenge, and if so challenge accepted.

I guess you have to read the rules and act accordingly so you don't have to find out.
