The Thought of Making Your Own Writing Site

When Mylot lost its shine two years ago, a lot of writing sites popped up. Some have promised a good amount of earnings, only to wait for nothing....Yup! I was also one of the "victims" of that site. I got so frustrated because after writing so many original content, they have missed paying. Anyway, I joined several others, but I did not stay that long not because it wasn't paying or not as much as I would want to earn, but the site isn't that "alive". A new-found friend in 2014 made his own writing site where I joined, too. I always dreamed of having my own writing site that would help fellow writers earn, but it is just too difficult to maintain it. We need to earn through ads and well, Google Adsense can be a bit crazy sometimes. Have you also thought the same thing?

I wouldn't have the patience or the technical know how to run a writing site. I like to just produce the content and let others take care of the boring stuff. Because I would find all that admin boring, and I would resent it for encroaching on my writing time.

I have a few times thought about opening a community writing site. Although I still think about it, I think it would be too much of a hassle for me to do I'm not the most organized or patient person in the world so it would probably be best for me to stick to blogging on my own.

I visited that site and recognised you. But my user name there was different. I stopped going there as I did not find the kind of satisfaction I was looking for.

Several former Squidoo members have set up such sites. I started contributing to one of them about three months ago. Many of us are also setting up blogs and sites of our own where we can move our old lenses or articles we have removed from other sites.

I had my own domain before but it was just for fun. I am a frustrated web designer. I never thought I could monetize it.
