So this might seem a little awkward but i have kept a secret from my family. Now dont start guessing things its not that big a secret. So the thing is i write poetry and i didnt tell anyone at home about it. Why? Because well everyone else is a poet in my family and no i am not talking about poetry on blogs and internet but award winning poets with really nice achievements. Somehow i feel intimidated by it and thought it would be best to just write in my dairy where everything is safe and nothing would be judged. It was going fine till i got lucky and had one of my own poem published in a real book (Wow moment of my life). I probably should have told at home but i thought well its not something they will find out. And then eventually i got more publications here and there and now i think i am in too deep. If tell them now they would ask why didnt you tell us before and yep after reading this you know my reason is silly and hard to explain. What would you do in such a situation?

This would be a hard situation to be in, I however think you should probably come clean, I mean, eventually they will probably find out some other way right? If I were in your shoes I would probably sit down with them and just explain how you feel and that you were afraid of being ridiculed or judged for your work as you felt intimidated by the fact that they too are poets and you were afraid your work might not be to their standards. I would imagine that they might be slightly upset but you might be surprised since this sounds like a passion you all share. Who knows, they at one time might have felt just like you and I would imagine that they would be proud to know that you have been published on more then one occasion. I know I would be!

@rebec991 not a problem, I'm here to learn and be helpful whenever I can. I think your family will understand and who knows this could open up all sorts of opportunity for you and your family. Good luck!

I see no problem here. This is your private space and they should respect it.
