Religious LoopHoles in Marriage (like the Angels Found in Kevin Smith's "DOGMA" (with George Carlin & Alan Rickman & Alanis Morrisette & Chris Rock etc.))

Looking through "Jesus's Teachings" to see if He said anything about 'homosexuality, husbands with husbands, wives with wives, etc.,' I found ""Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery." "As mentioned earlier in Matthew, Jesus said this teaching is not able to be accepted by everyone, but only those to whom it was given. This teaching clearly shows the need that we explore and grasp the complete record of His teachings and not take His word beyond the wholeness of what He taught. If we only take the passages where this is taught and exclude the other it may bring much grief that is unnecessary." And it made me think, 'Don't Catholics evade this by having their divorced marriages "annulled" (retracted as though they were never valid in the first place)?' What about homosexual marriages? Is that adultery-method IMPOSSIBLE between two women? Or two husbands (as neither is divorcing their "wife")?

Actually, I think it was Kevin Smith who wrote Dogma. Terrible movie. I shut it off after about 20 minutes.

sometimes i wonder about you @xfahctor .....i came to this post wanting to think you for the correction that Dogma was a Kevin smith movie (written, produced, directed and starring) , that just happened to have the late great George Carlin as an actor in it........but then you slander it like that?? (j/k....i appreciate your correction, just some how wonder about your sense of humor if you don't like that movie!! i still think you need to give it another chance.........i do own it on dvd btw, incase you ever want to give it another shot... ;) ) as to the original post.....an annulment can only be made under certain circumstances... and personally unless the marriage was forced upon people (a.k.a. signing a contract against ones will) or MAYBE if it is found after the fact to not be a legal union (oh crap....we found out we are cousins.....or that one spouse or the other was already married etc..)...then an annulment is just a way to skirt around taking responsibilities for ones own inability to make good decisions. i suppose it all depends on whether you see marriage as being overseen by the church or the the government.....

@fruitcakeliz I fixed the credits-error @xfahctor pointed out. As for 'annulment': Maybe it's so-limited in the Protestant church, but divorcesupport.about.com/od/alternativestodivorce/ht/annulment.htm the Catholic church (which is the one that made 'the angels' loophole' possible ) says "Anyone married in the Catholic Church and now divorced can request an annulment" (usually in order to get re-married).
