Getting along with people

I have been on many writing sites before and I have no issues getting along with people. In fact I enjoy interacting with people and thus I am here on few sites like this one.
I usually avoid discussions on subjects which are controversial like religion and politics. I love my peace and don't care to get into heated arguments, which these topics usually raise.
I have made many friends online and have hung around with them for eight years and more on other writing sites. The sense of camaraderie and light hearted fun here makes mylot enjoyable.
There are the usual but thankfully few bullies online whom I just ignore and refuse to interact with.
I believe that the key to making any site a happy place is the people and their interaction with one another.
Have you been getting along well with people here? Do you find your visits to this site enjoyable?

Personally, I never get into discussions related to Religion and Politics as I know, people are more possessive with their views on these subjects and it is a very personal issue. Many are not interested to discuss but they share their views only to make their views known.
That said, there are still some good friends here at MyLot whom I can be honest with and as such even these set of people may post about religion or politics, I may find myself on them.
As for getting along well with the MyLot community, of course, there are genuine humans behind every post and comment/response and there are many lotters now who are a part of my world.

@sofssu Of course. Most of them are around. I am at mylot or even on FB just because I get a chance to interact with them.
I personally do not like getting into the fray when I see personality or ideological differences coming up. 
The best way to avoid it (in case you have participated on one such discussion) is to close the tab and move on to the next discussion which is healthy. And in case you want, you can report it too.

Like you said I am okay with expressing my views and that's about it. I personally do not like getting into the fray when I see personality or ideological differences coming up.

For me mylot is not a new site. I have been working here for long and got paid many times. So I can see many familiar members here. Personally I do not get along with people easily. But on writing sites, it won't be a problem as I care only the topics and naturally get close with members through interaction.

@Sreekala Hi friend yes it is very easy and good to get close relation through writing than in real , Mylot rocks in this area , feeling on cloud 9 after interacting again with our old friends .

We are all human beings coming across situations where some may call them chalk and yet others think it is cheese. So it is important to identify such situations and diffuse them. . I am pretty good at that. I am good when it is a one on one situation but I simply cannot face a mob.

@allknowing chalk and cheese great rhyming friend , i prefer cheese over chalk , cause we can't eat chalk and cheese will be yummy to eat .Yes you are right we have to identify situations and behave according to . We have to eliminate few and carry on .

@allknowing That happens in any interaction .. online or offline.. its best to know when to draw the line and move away. Honestly as far as I am concerned I say my piece and get on..

A lot more people want to get along with others than not I find. I like all subjects even the tough ones but I know what you mean. Sometimes I just want to enjoy my time on computer and avoid anything that is unpleasant. It depends on the subject and person. You can have anything you want? That is what I like about it. :-)

Well, I have been getting along with everyone thus far that I have ran across and had the time to interact with..
Except this one. This woman who said she would come tend my flower beds, but never showed, due to some lame excuse of tickets. Then she said she sent me multiple messages, for me never to receive them (sorta like the check is in the mail), and then just this morning (her evening) she tried shoving spam down my throat. Hmmm What is a girl to do??

If people want to talk about the price of eggs, I can relate and talk about the price of eggs. Want to talk about children? cooking? crafts? the weather? your cat? No problem. But I will also talk about religion, politics, the news, and just about anything. Some people do get upset and angry when they get into debates, etc. I don't. I mean no one any harm, but I do love a good debate. So, no matter what the subject, I am good with it.

@Rollo1 Have fun Anja .. openness is all you need to a get into a good discussion... You have it. I am okay with being a spectator on some arguments. I may not relate to the price of eggs in your side of the world However, despite the cultural divide we can talk amicably about common stuff and that is what I like about being here.

Choosing the words is very important in online conversation since there is cultural differences involved. I also avoid sensitive topics.

@Shylambert Absolutely,, right choice of words very is important. One could sound curt when it isn't really so.. I have noticed some people from some cultures say things that sound impolite to me. However, they don't seem to be aware of offending others as that is they way they are used to conversing with one another.

Of course. As I said on my response, there are humans at the other end of every post and response. And just as we have good and bad in the real world, same is the scenario here too. The only great thing here is the fact that there are rules and in case you are finding someone abuse you, you can report. However, in general, most of the community here is peaceful and warm.

At Bubblews i commented on a bubbler's post . Only to be commented back that she got offended by my comment . I told her what i meant and it wasn't offensive . I asked for an apology and she liked it , but never interacted with her again .

@sofssu Me , i was hurt because we were close connections , then she thought like that . So , i decided to just not be in touch with her anymore. She has some posts before ranting about her anger to a an acquiantance of her . With that one with us , i know that she's a sensitive person .

@SIMPLYD Hmm.. I have seen people getting offended on B . But I cannot understand why a person cannot accept a sincere apology. I had a misunderstanding with a fellow writer on Hubpages years ago.. I just couldn't understand why he reacted personally to a generally observation of mine. Later he wrote about his personal life and that when I realized he was traumatized with the things happening in his life. I apologized and he was quick to accept his fault .. we have been good friends since then. These things happen because each of us have a life apart from the one online.

Although I don't avoid peaceful discussions on religion and politics, I seem to be able to agree to disagree and so I get along with most people. Sometimes, though, I realize the other person cannot agree to disagree, and I just shut up, even if I think the other person is wrong. I don't do flame wars.

You will run into the rude ones on any site. If someone gives me too much lip, I avoid them instead of getting into a screaming match. I don't have the time or the desire to stoop to that level.

@AbbyGreenhill I guess most of us feel that way.. Personally I am here to enjoy myself self. I wouldn't care to let someone spoil my day.
