A Taste Of Greece

Down the right side are some ads and one of them had the heading "A Taste Of Greece". That reminded me of a dish I had at a local cafe. I saw that Greek Spaghetti was on the menu and wanted to try it so I ordered it. I figured it would probably have black olives, some other kind of Greek veggie/s, and Feta cheese on it. You would NOT believe what it actually was. The spaghetti had water chestnuts, baby corn, snow peas, and whatever else. It looked like a stir fry veggie combination and NOTHING Greek about it!! I should have asked first what was in it. It was definitely NOT what I thought it would be.

I agree, that doesn't sound Greek to me at all. My friend in Greece seemed to eat only tomatoes and olives and greens of different sorts with olive oil drizzled on it. I never once heard her say a word about water chestnuts and corn.

Tomatoes and olives and greens with olive oil sounds better than oriental stir-fry veggies in spaghetti. That's for sure!

I would have expected something with feta, squids, cuttlefishes, olives. But because spaghetti also are not Greek you can put whatever you want, including corn and water chestnuts, even if they do not grow in Greece.
