Are emoticons for children?

I thought that emoticons are only for children but boy, was I wrong.
There was a post in which someone asked a question about a super-power and what would you do with it. Someone replied something about a physical condition that he would like to remove from him and then @sofssu replied with a comment that included a emoticon that was a face with its tongue out flapping its tongue up and down 
.
When I saw her comment I was like "OMG, Sophie. What is that emoticon supposed to mean?!". She was like "What?! There is nothing so OMG about it". Please don't get me wrong, Sophie. I absolutely loved your emoticon then even though I thought that it is only for children. It is nice when adults sometimes act like children. There is absolutely nothing wrong about that. Someone said that we are just children in big adult bodies.
So, are emoticons for children?

Sophie, you also have a site. Am I right? Do you gain money out of it? A site requires money to maintain. Maintenance is about 8 dollars or so a month.

Yes. I do enjoy that and I absolutely love it when others do it as well.

We are all unlucky as @Saphrina is not around, yet.
You should find some of her discussions and you would realize that she uses these emoticons as a charm...
For me, I am still a kid who loves playing with these "emoticons"
