Do you still love typing with a typewriter?

I love typewriters, though I never had the opportunity to use one for a long time. I am fond of writing. I love writing because I have too much inside and the only way I can pour my heart out is through words. But on seeing typewriters, those old ones, I feel a call to use them. I am planning to write a novel soon and I want to do that with a typewriter. Do you prefer typewriters to computers? Do they attract you? Do you still use typewriters? Do you have one at home?

I miss one. I had one but it got lost. I learned partly to typo on one. It was fun and relaxing because the reward did not need to be perfect. There is nothing like feeling the paper in hand. At the moment call me the backspace button speeder. I like how different writing methods do different things for us.

Totally in agreement. I want to feel the mental and emotional relationship I can have with a typewriter. I know computers, mobile phones and tablets are more sophisticated but I love more what is traditional than modern - even the ways of writing.

@else34 Even me, I have a special pen for writing. But I want to explore the relationship with a typewriter. I'm about to write a book and I wonder why I'm yearning for it to be written with a typewriter. There's something special about a typewriter.

I haven't seen one since I was a child. I wish I could get hold of one of those. I can't type to save my life though.

I am also yearning to have one. I will be typing to save people's lives around me rather. I have a purpose behind it all.

I have used both the manual and the electronic typewriters and yes, I do agree that they are more fun. I love the sound that these keys make more than the other things. I never had one at home. Though there is a manual one still available at my dads' office. Today, however, I would prefer to use the computer to type out a manuscript (or a novel) as editing becomes easier manifolds on a computer. But if given a chance to buy a typewriter - I would prefer an electronic one over the manual.

Thank you for responding. I have been actively looking for a manual typewriter in my country - Mauritius - but it's so difficult to find one here. I am travelling to India in November, I hope I find one there.

@thesids I have been to Mumbai and Pune earlier this year in March. In November, I will be travelling to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Mumbai and Kashmir. I am planning a solo trip - just for adventure.

@excellence7 Oh great. I am sure you would be able to find one but it might be overly priced (in Indian currency of course) because they know, they dont have regular business. When are you planning to visit India? Does any from your family stay here? or it is just a vacation/professional tour.

In the day when all there was were type writers, I used them, but I always thought they were hard to use. Now, the computer is great to type on. I would never go back to type writers.

What I can conclude is that people who have used typewriters before would not really go for them again but those who have never, like me, would really wish to try. It makes sense somehow. It's about exploring the feelings it gives.

lol, I have junked my typewriter. Now that I experienced the ease of typing in a computer, I don't think I will ever enjoy typing in a typewriter again.

I've still got a typewriter but it hasn't been used for years. I prefer using a computer because it's hard work correcting mistakes on a typewriter and I make lots of them.
