Giving compliments

Yesterday I was in the hardware store and having some problems finding what I needed. One of the assistants offered to help me. She was so kind even though she wasn't working in that particular section. When I went to pay for my purchases I noticed there was a card to fill in to show my appreciation. As I filled it in I thought I should do this more often. Do you compliment people who go out of their way to assist you?

I am too free with it in that people are used to it.

Hehe, I can imagine people standing there waiting for you to pay them a compliment.

I don't think it happens often that we get cards to fill in, but I have told managers in stores that such-and-such an employee was very helpful.

The thing is I had to actually go back and ask this employee her name. She must have thought I was a bit weird, oh well!

Good for you. Sometimes I find it is much easier for people to complain than to remember to say thanks.

Yes I do. It is so important because people like that do not get enough recognition from the company.
