Have you ever thought something that really happened was a dream?

My husband and I were talking this evening, and he was telling me about this crazy dream that he had last night. It started off normally, with him waking up to me complaining about finding a mouse in the house. He said I was tearing the bedroom apart looking for it because I'd woken up and found it hanging on the window blinds. When I couldn't find it, I started throwing furniture through the window. I had to burst his bubble, because the thing with the mouse actually happened. Our neighbor is a hoarder, and we think it's starting to attract mice... who then come through the adjoining wall into our apartment when the cats over there run them off. Last night one of the cheeky little buggers was hanging in the middle of the wooden blinds, chewing away at either one of the slats or the cord. So out go the traps tonight, and hopefully we'll have it out of here in a day or two. But there's the issue of dealing with the root of the problem... the neighbor's hoard. I've offered to help her if she wants it, but she doesn't. Which is all well and good, up until the problem starts affecting my family. And it definitely is now. I really have no desire to "get her in trouble" with the landlord, but my family's health may be at stake. What would you do?

I have had this experience and it was really scary. The problem is that I don't (and didn't then) remember having the dream, I just had a memory of having murdered someone and having buried the body in a place which was very real. I suppose that, because the image I had of the place was so accurate in all its detail, the memory of the action became real in my mind. It's very difficult to describe the terror I lived in for several days that the police would come knocking on my door at any time.

That would sure scare the living daylights out of me! Did you ever go to the place you remembered to see if there was any evidence there? I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to do it. I'd be too afraid I'd find something that confirmed it!

I thought that something that was a dream had really happened. I had a dream that I was on Let's Make a Deal as a child and was asked to do a hula dance. But when I later thought it through, it all didn't make sense.

You don't actually have to "rat" her out to the landlord. You have a perfect right to contact the landlord and say you have found a mouse in your apartment. He will send someone to investigate and they will find the source of it.

I would offer her a cat. Not mine, because he is only interested by birds. He never managed to catch a mouse when I had mice in the house, but he killed one of the turtledoves I was feeding.

Well, she does have two of them, although they spend most of their time outside these days. Maybe that's the problem... That and the fact that the one's going blind and the other prefers lizards and bugs...
