Time to take Sassy to that nasty place

Sassy's been with us since April. She's a cat that was abandoned by her owner, and a friend of a friend was feeding her. She's really sweet, but she is *gasp* black, and four years old, and that's not such a good combination. Black cats tend to be the last ones to get adopted, as do older cats. I was hopeful last week at the rescue as there were lots of kittens and she was the only adult (that I remember). Sometimes people come in looking for adult cats, because they are calmer than kittens. Kittens can be pretty destructive, actually. Maybe this week she will have better luck. She's really sweet, and I'd keep her, but I already have four cats, and that's my limit. So everybody wish Sassy good luck in finding a forever home so I don't have to keep shlepping her back and forth.

I don't have anything against black cats. In fact, I think that they are beautiful! They look like mini panthers! lol
I've had a couple of black cats in the past. Now I have an orange cat. Not that I was looking to get a cat. He belonged to my mom and stepfather. However, since my stepfather passed away a few months ago and my mom has dementia and is in a care home, I took it upon myself to take him in.
Probably not the best idea, seeing as I have a chihuahua (she's mostly black, by the way). She's 8 months old and still very much a puppy whereas my mom's cat is old (I'm unsure of his age, but I think they got him back in 1997 or '98), so it's not a good mix.
Still, what was I supposed to do? I didn't have the heart to rehome him, nor did I want to send him to the pound. As you already know old cats are usually the last ones adopted out...if they get adopted at all. And he's about as old as they come. Even though he's a total sweetheart, chances are he wouldn't have had a chance.
There's no way I could have done that. Not to my mom's cat... *sigh*
Anyway, good luck finding a home for Sassy!

I'd rescue them all if I could.. but I also have 4 cats.. and a dog.. and that's over my limit! Though I do have 2 black cats. We've always had at least 1 black cat. Some day I want a Russian Blue.

@katsmeow1213 Actually, tabby is the "default" pattern. If you check out the smaller wild cats, especially the Jungle cat and the Desert cat you will see they have stripes. Also, the European wild cat has stripes. So, calico (a mix of the black and the "red" gene) will often show stripes in the "red" part - we see it as an orange or yellow color and that will have stripes.

@ElicBxn Here's a pic of Aggie so you can see her tiger stripes. In the pic she looks more like a gray tabby, but she does have orange here and there. She actually has an orange mohawk on top of her head.
