UEFA Cup holders Sevilla got the defence of their title back on track with a 2-0 home win over Braga in Group C on Thursday. The win put Sevilla, who drew their opening match 0-0 at Slovan Liberec, second in the group with four points from two games, two adrift of leaders AZ Alkmaar who have six from two. Juande Ramos's side dominated from the outset but did not find the breakthrough until four minutes before halftime when Adriano Correia's cross from the left was drilled into the net by Brazilian striker Luis Fabiano. Braga threatened with quick counter-attacks but the game was settled 13 minutes from time when Renato's fierce shot was only parried by visiting goalkeeper Paolo Santos. Sevilla's Uruguayan striker Ernesto Chevanton had only been on the pitch a few minutes as a substitute but reacted quickly to put away the loose ball. It was his first official goal for the Andalucians since securing an eight million euro move from Monaco during the close season.
