I had to go to court today. It wasn't for anything I did. I had to go because my teens on got caught stealing at a local grocery store. The amount was only $35.00 which was given back to the store. He was given court cost at $75. Placed on probation til June. Has to write an apology to the store with in seven days Has to be in by 6 pm. Has to serve 40 hours of community service. Was given 30 days in jail, was suspended. This was his first offense ever being in trouble. He is typically a straight AB student, in honor classes. He did a stupid stupid thing. When was the last time you went to court and why?

It sounds like they really threw the book at him with that one. I hope he's learned his lesson and doesn't try anything like that again! The last time I was in a courtroom was the day my husband and I got married. We had the local justice of the peace do the ceremony for us. He told us he'd been looking forward to it all day because he didn't think he got the chance to do fun things like weddings as often as he should.

Yes, they threw the book at home. They are hard on juveniles in my area. Considering it was less than $35.00 worth of stuff. It was classified one step under a felony. I did that with my estranged husband in 2005.

@rusty2rusty One step under a felony? You wouldn't think that a crime like that would be classified so harshly!

@yukimori I agree. But seen it happen today. They tend to be harder on juveniles in my area. In order to deter them and help them to fix their mistakes and not do it again.

My boyfriend has to go to court for legal stuff with his business. A customer doesn't want to pay for work being done. So, he is going to try to get a lien til the man pays it off.
